The good guys are easy to spot as are the bad guys. The start of the book is interesting, the maneuvering of the gods and getting to learn about this new world. There is severe prejudice against the bonded, who are basically slaves, mixed blood people, and the shamed. If it is bad enough the queens get involved and deform you in some way, and that is called being shamed. If you are wronged by somebody they get to name your punishment, if they name too harsh of one, they get punished.
